Who we are

Gina Anton, a Journalist currently studying at Suffolk University, founded Breaking the Ice in 2025. Breaking the Ice is an American new outlet beyond the box score. Based in Boston, Massachusetts we spotlight the human side of sports — the psychology, culture, and untold stories that make games matter.

We have stories focusing not only on star athletes but we also highlight trainers, referees, equipment managers, super fans, or even locals who shape the sports world in quieter ways.

Not only do we care about the game but we care about the players and want more of an insight into their everyday lives which are not always covered in the media.
