The 2025–2026 CEHL season delivered one of the most offensively explosive and competitively balanced campaigns in recent memory. From dominant regular-season runs to high-scoring playoff clashes, the league showcased elite talent, relentless scoring, and a clear rise in attacking hockey.

The regular season was defined by a razor-thin margin by the end. Both EHC Die Bären Neuwied and Snackpoint Eaters Limburg finished both with 52 points, but Neuwied’s consistency and defensive strength gave them the edge in first place.

Neuwied’s numbers tell the story of a complete team:

103 goals scored, the highest in the league and just 40 goals conceded, by far the best defensive record

Limburg, however, pushed them every step of the way, finishing with:

99 goals scored and an even tighter defensive record of 33 goals against, the lowest in the league

This created one of the closest title races in CEHL history.

Offensive Explosion Across the League

If one theme defined the season, it was offense.

UltimAir Hijs Hokij stood out as a highly potent offensive force all season long. Across the league, several teams exceeded or came close to the 100-goal milestone, reflecting a broader trend toward more attack-focused play.

At the other end of the spectrum, the struggles of Mechelen Golden Sharks were stark:

137 goals conceded in the regular season and a league-low of 41 goals scored. These extremes contributed to several lopsided and high-scoring matchups throughout the season.

Statement Wins

The playoffs amplified the intensity, and the scoring.

In the quarterfinals, Neuwied delivered one of the most dominant performances of the year with 20 goals scored and just 2 conceded in 2 games. That level of dominance set the tone for a deep run.

The final series between EHC Die Bären Neuwied and UltimAir Hijs Hokij was a fitting conclusion:

Neuwied: 20 goals

Hijs Hokij: 16 goals over 5 games

A four-goal differential across five games highlights just how competitive and offensively charged the series was.

Top Players

Individually, the season belonged to a handful of elite forwards who drove the league’s offensive surge.

Cody Monds (UltimAir Hijs Hokij)

28 goals — the highest in the league

Juuso Rajala (EHC Die Bären Neuwied)

50 assists, showcasing elite vision and puck distribution

Raymond van der Schuit (UltimAir Hijs Hokij)

60 points (25 goals, 35 assists)

Monds and van der Schuit formed one of the most dangerous offensive duos in the league, combining scoring and creativity at an elite level.

Highest Scoring Performances

The 2025–2026 season delivered several explosive single-game performances that highlighted the league’s attacking identity.

The most dominant result came when UltimAir Hijs Hokij crushed Mechelen Golden Sharks 13–0, the highest-scoring and most one-sided game of the season.

EHC Die Bären Neuwied followed with a commanding 11–0 win over Tout Bien Leuven Chiefs, further proving their dominance.

The Liege Bulldogs were also central to overall competitive matches, recording multiple big wins, including a 6–5 overtime victory over Leuven.

Outside of the league’s biggest contenders, Unis Flyers Heerenveen delivered one of the most complete performances of the season with a commanding 9–2 victory over Mechelen Golden Sharks. The result showcased Heerenveen’s ability to control the game in all areas, combining clinical finishing with a structured defensive performance that limited opportunities the other way.

Discipline and Physical Play

The physical edge of the league was also evident:

Jacques De Ceuster (Heylen Vastgoed HYC) led with 63 penalty minutes. This balance of skill and physicality added another layer of intensity to key matchups.

Champions and Honors

Beyond the league standings and playoff battles, the season also crowned winners in key competitions.

Bulldogs Liège lifted the Belgian Cup on February 7, marking a major achievement and underlining their strength on the domestic stage.

“For the level of the match, we played well and were very dominant,” said Bulldogs alternate captain Frank Neven.

Reflecting on winning back-to-back titles, he added that the achievement feels just as rewarding the second time, highlighting the strong, positive atmosphere within the team after successfully defending their championship.

EHC Die Bären Neuwied confirmed their dominance by winning the CEHL Championship, capping off an already outstanding season.

They capped it off by winning the final series, finishing with a 20–16 goal advantage over Hijs Hokij on March 29.

The 2025–2026 CEHL season will be remembered as a turning point toward high-octane hockey. With multiple teams pushing offensive limits and star players delivering career-best performances, the league showcased both depth and elite talent.

From Neuwied’s dominance to Monds’ goal-scoring brilliance, this season wasn’t just competitive, it was explosive.

And if this trend continues, the CEHL’s future promises even faster, higher-scoring, and more electrifying hockey.
