Florida Panthers Make NHL History With Three Straight Natural Hat Tricks
Written by Gina Anton
The Florida Panthers have found a new way to make history, and Brady Tkachuk and Carter Verhaeghe are at the center of it. With natural hat tricks in three consecutive games, Florida has become the first team in NHL history to accomplish the feat, turning a hot stretch in front of the net into a record-breaking run.
Tkachuk set the tone Tuesday against the Columbus Blue Jackets, scoring three straight goals in Florida’s 7-3 win. He did it again Thursday against the Vancouver Canucks, completing another natural hat trick in a 3-2 overtime victory. Two games, six goals and a place in league history.
Verhaeghe carried the streak into Saturday’s matchup against the Seattle Kraken. He scored twice late in the first period before completing his hat trick early in the second, helping Florida pull away for an 8-3 win. Sam Bennett added a hat trick of his own, giving the Panthers two players with three-goal performances in the same game.
For Tkachuk, the back-to-back hat tricks put his scoring touch on full display. Verhaeghe then ensured the streak continued, capitalizing on his chances and giving Florida another standout performance. Different players stepped up, but the result remained the same: opposing goaltenders struggled to contain the Panthers.
Florida’s record now belongs to the history books, but the bigger question is what Tkachuk and Verhaeghe can build from this stretch. Both have shown they can take over a game offensively, giving the Panthers two proven finishers who can change the outcome when their chances come. For Florida, having both players producing at this level could prove just as valuable as the record itself.
