NHL EDGE 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs Report

Written By Gina Anton

The NHL EDGE tracking system continues to spotlight the game’s most explosive athletes, measuring skating speed, shot power, and total ice coverage in ways that go beyond traditional stats.

Hardest Shot Attempt: John Carlson (D, ANA) – 102.72 mph

Carlson owns the hardest shot attempt recorded in the 2026 NHL playoffs, unleashing a 102.72 mph blast that leads all skaters.

His ability to generate elite velocity from the point continues to be a key offensive weapon for Anaheim, especially on the power play, where heavy shots through traffic create rebound and deflection chances.

Max Skating Speed: Cale Makar (D, COL) – 23.92 mph

Makar leads all skaters with a top recorded speed of 23.92 mph, the fastest burst among EDGE-tracked players in the postseason.

His ability to reach near 24 mph in-game reinforces his status as one of the league’s most dynamic transition defensemen, capable of carrying the puck end-to-end or joining the rush at full stride. In playoff hockey, where space tightens and decisions speed up, Makar’s elite skating remains a defining advantage.

Most Miles Skated: Quinn Hughes (D, VAN) – 6.35 miles

Hughes leads all players with 6.35 miles skated, the highest total recorded in the EDGE- tracked players in the postseason.

As Vancouver’s captain, Hughes consistently drives play from zone exit to offensive entry, while also logging heavy defensive minutes. His skating volume reflects a high-usage role where nearly every shift involves movement through all three zones.
