Wild Remain in Pursuit of Dylan Larkin Amid Ongoing Trade Talks

The Minnesota Wild continue to pursue Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin, remaining in daily contact with general manager Steve Yzerman and Larkin's agent, Pat Brisson, as they search for a way to complete a blockbuster trade.

Larkin, 29, was originally open to joining Minnesota, though his list of preferred destinations has since expanded, increasing competition for one of the NHL's top centers. Despite that, talks between the two clubs remain active.

The biggest hurdle is Detroit's asking price. The Red Wings are believed to be seeking premium assets, something Minnesota may struggle to provide on its own. A three-team trade has emerged as a potential solution to help bridge the gap.

Larkin is coming off another productive season, recording 34 goals and 33 assists for 67 points in 74 games during the 2025-26 campaign. Over his 808-game NHL career, the veteran center has totaled 276 goals, 367 assists, and 643 points.

For the Wild, acquiring Larkin would fill their long-standing need for a true No. 1 center and could elevate Minnesota into the conversation as a legitimate Stanley Cup contender. With the NHL Draft underway and trade activity ramping up across the league, the Wild remain hopeful they can find a way to land their biggest offseason target.
