The PWHL is breaking ground as the New York Sirens host a historic game at Madison Square Garden. On April 4, the Sirens will face off against the Seattle Torrent at the acclaimed arena. Home to the New York Rangers and the New York Knicks, Madison Square Garden is one of the most famous and iconic arenas in the world. This moment for the PWHL marks a major breakthrough, bringing increased publicity and added significance to women’s professional hockey.

Typically, the Sirens’ home rink is the Prudential Center in New Jersey, which is also home to the New Jersey Devils of the NHL. On April 4, however, Madison Square Garden will serve as home for the Sirens and will shine its lights on women’s professional hockey with fans in attendance.

“Playing at the Garden is an honor, and sharing it with our dedicated fans will make it even more special. New York doesn’t just watch moments; it lives with them,” said General Manager Pascal Daoust as he reflected on the announcement of the game.

Madison Square Garden seats a whopping 19,500 fans, making it the second-largest capacity arena the PWHL has ever played in, behind the Bell Centre in Montreal. This presents a big opportunity for the New York Sirens and the PWHL to showcase their value in the sports world.

Setting aside the location, this contest against the Torrent is shaping up to be an exciting matchup, as both teams have one win in three games against each other this season.

Currently, the Sirens hold the fourth-place spot in the PWHL standings as the league enters the midseason point. With only the top four teams advancing to the playoffs, every game is crucial. As the April 4 matchup at MSG falls later in the season, every point will matter even more.

The Sirens are also riding a four-game winning streak, establishing themselves as strong contenders. With star rookies, including 2025 first-round pick Kristýna Kaltounková and local New Yorker Casey O’Brien, the team’s offense is surging.

Another marquee PWHL matchup this season will take place on April 11, featuring the Boston Fleet and the Montreal Victoire at TD Garden, another notable venue and home to the Boston Bruins and Boston Celtics. The Fleet and the Victoire currently occupy the top two spots in the league standings, with the Fleet in first place.

Together, these games on April 4 and April 11 represent important moments not only for the PWHL, but for women’s sports as a whole. Two major sports hubs, New York and Boston, are helping set the stage for the continued growth and relevance of women’s hockey.

The Sirens’ game will begin at 8 p.m. ET at Madison Square Garden. Tickets are available now on Ticketmaster.
