Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin faced off for the 100th time on Sunday afternoon in the nation’s capital. A 3–0 win by the Washington Capitals sealed a historic night for Ovechkin, who could be playing in his final NHL season.
The pair, who have competed against each other for 21 seasons, have been defining players for the league. Over the past two decades, Crosby and Ovechkin have been the faces of the National Hockey League. Both former first-round picks have built historic careers, combining for four Stanley Cups and serving as captains of their respective teams for nearly two decades.
