At 19 years old, Macklin Celebrini has already rewritten the record books for the San Jose Sharks, and in doing so, announced himself as the face of the franchise.
In the final game of the 2025–26 season, Celebrini set a new Sharks single-season record with 115 points (45 goals, 70 assists), surpassing the long-standing mark of 114 held by Joe Thornton. It’s a milestone achievement on its own. Doing it as a teenager makes it historic.
Celebrini’s season wasn’t just about one record. His 45 goals rank as the second-highest single-season total in franchise history, trailing only Jonathan Cheechoo’s 56-goal campaign in 2005–06. He also recorded his 31st multipoint game, surpassing both Erik Karlsson (30 in 2022–23) and Thornton (30 in 2007–08) for the second-most in a single season in team history.
Taken together, it’s one of the most dominant offensive seasons the Sharks have ever seen, let alone from a player his age.
Celebrini closed out the year in fitting fashion, delivering a goal and two assists in the season finale. But as has been the case all year, his focus remained on the team rather than the milestone.
“I think it was just a good way to end the season,” Celebrini said. “We had a tough game last night and we wanted to end on the right note. … That kind of hockey is fun when you're making plays, getting chances, you’re playing the puck around. I think that's when hockey is the most fun. So, we were just enjoying it.”
That perspective has resonated throughout the organization, especially with head coach Ryan Warsofsky, who has seen firsthand what sets the young star apart beyond his on-ice production.
“What people don’t realize is, he is an unbelievable human being, and that’s how special he is,” Warsofsky said. “He’s got a high character -- you can tell he was raised with some really good parents. It’s hard to put into words because he’s a special kid.”
It’s that combination, elite talent and grounded maturity, that has elevated Celebrini from promising prospect to cornerstone player in record time.
On a rebuilding Sharks roster, he has been the driving force behind the team’s offense, consistently creating chances, controlling the pace of play, and delivering in key moments. His 115-point season doesn’t just lead the franchise, it places him among the most productive teenage campaigns in NHL history.

More importantly, it signals a shift in San Jose.
For years, the Sharks have searched for a clear identity in the post-Thornton era. That search now has direction. Drafted first overall in 2024, Macklin Celebrini stands as the centerpiece of the franchise’s next chapter.
Breaking a franchise record is something most players spend a career chasing, Celebrini did it before turning 20.
And if this season is any indication, San Jose’s future isn’t just arriving. It’s already here.
