BOSTON, MA. — The Boston Fleet is set to make history. On April 11, the PWHL team will take the ice at TD Garden for the first time in franchise history, a milestone that underscores the rapid rise of women’s professional hockey in New England.
Since their founding in 2023, the Fleet have played most of their home games at the Tsongas Center in Lowell, with occasional contests at Boston University’s Agganis Arena. But, the April clash against the Montréal Victoire will mark their debut on one of Boston’s largest stages which is the same ice that has hosted Stanley Cup champions and countless Bruins legends.
“Our fans deserve this,” Fleet general manager Danielle Marmer said during a press conference following the announcement. “They deserve to be able to watch our team play in an atmosphere like that.”
TD Garden, with its capacity of nearly 17,850 for hockey, offers a chance to elevate the profile of the Fleet and the league as a whole. It’s more than just a venue upgrade but a statement about the legitimacy and visibility of women’s professional hockey.
Former Boston College forward Abby Newhook reflected on her experience winning the 2025 Women’s Beanpot consolation game.
“Being able to play in front of that many people in Boston, which has such a rich history in sports and such a great fan base, is just an incredible opportunity.”
“Just hearing that and how many people were in the building was just an unbelievable feeling and unbelievable experience,” Newhook added, looking forward to breaking attendance records for women’s games this spring.
Fans can expect a high-energy matchup as the Fleet face Montréal, a team that has quickly established itself as one of the PWHL’s elite clubs. Beyond the game itself, the event could set a precedent for future women’s professional hockey contests in major arenas across North America.
With this historic appearance, the Boston Fleet are not only chasing victories on the ice but they are helping redefine what’s possible for women’s hockey. April 11 promises to be a night that fans, players, and the city will remember for years to come.
