Key players are sidelined due to injuries as the 2025–26 Professional Women’s Hockey League season resumes following the Milano Cortina Olympic Games.

Hilary Knight — Seattle Torrent

Status: Knight received a lower-body injury while competing in the Olympic Games and will be pulled from the lineup indefinitely.

Impact: The Seattle Torrent are missing their captain as they return for the second half of the season. The weight will be shouldered by alternate captains Emily Brown and Alex Carpenter in Knight’s place. Her absence also removes one of the team’s most experienced offensive leaders, forcing Seattle to adjust both its leadership structure and scoring strategy.

Kendall Coyne Schofield — Minnesota Frost

Status: After sustaining an upper-body injury in Milan, Schofield has been placed on Long-Term Injury Reserve (LTIR).

Impact: The team’s scoring balance will be affected without Schofield at the helm. The Minnesota Frost will have to rely on forward Élizabeth Giguère, who has been activated from the team’s reserve, while their captain is absent. Minnesota will likely look for increased production from its secondary scoring lines to help offset the loss of Schofield’s speed and playmaking ability.

Olivia Mobley — Boston Fleet

Status: During practice in the midst of the Olympic break, Mobley sustained an upper-body injury, placing her on LTIR.

Impact: Mobley will be absent from the start of the 2025–26 season’s second-half push. The Boston Fleet will need to strengthen their forward rotation as they remain one right winger short. This could create opportunities for depth forwards to move up the lineup as the team looks to maintain its offensive consistency.

Erin Ambrose — Montréal Victoire

Status: In the Gold Medal Game against Team USA, Ambrose sustained a lower-body injury and has been placed on LTIR.

Impact: With their alternate captain out of the lineup, the Montréal Victoire have activated defenders Kelly-Ann Nadeau and Tamara Giaquinto from their player reserve. The defensive unit will need to quickly build chemistry to maintain Montréal’s structure on the blue line.

Zoe Boyd — Boston Fleet

Status: In a regular-season practice, Boyd sustained a lower-body injury and has been placed on LTIR since the beginning of February.

Impact: The Boston Fleet pulled rookie defender Riley Brengman from reserve in a move tied to Boyd’s absence. The left-side defense will need to focus on how it can compensate for this loss. Boyd’s absence could also test Boston’s defensive depth as the team navigates key games in the second half of the season.
